World of Vala Divinity
Religion is an essential aspect within the World of Vala. In a world where Gods and other divinities freely interact with the mortal realm, it becomes difficult to be ambivalent about the deities and ignore their existence. Gods are broken into both a Divine Rank and a Divine Status.
Gods & Pantheons
Gods that are unaffiliated are often too powerful to be restricted to any single pantheon. Deities are individually broken into 4 different tiers.
-
Beings who are not deities yet have a divine spark, you must be born a Godseed.
-
Deities that were generally servants of stronger deities. Independent ones were generally outcasts. They were the object of worship of oppressed social groups or niche groups.
-
Deities who have a physical form located on some plane can be slain. These deities are often worshipped by the general population and are respected by the other divines.
-
Beings beyond mortal understanding. They may manifest an avatar, but destroying it does not harm the deity.
Divine Status
Divinity in the World of Vala is often separated into two types of statuses: Old Gods and New Gods.
Old Gods: Old Gods have been in existence since Year 0. These Gods have made unchangeable marks within history, and their influence and actions continue to reverberate to this day. They are often characterized by an inability to change their nature.
New Gods: New Gods are gods that have been operating for the past 100 years. These Gods signified the rise of divine involvement within the mortal realm. They are often characterized by their recklessness and their need to mold the world in their image. They are often looked at with disdain by the Old Gods and seen as destructive upstarts by their elders.
Unaffiliated Gods
Gods that are unaffiliated are often too powerful to be restricted to any single pantheon.
