9. Academic Focus
Players will be able to create an academic schedule that is colored according to the vocation they have selected. Each institution offers courses in its day program leading to the acquisition of certification of Vaconic Mastery. The specific nature of the program pursued by the student determines which degree is to be awarded. However, candidates for each of these degrees fulfill the following academic requirements and standards
A minimum of one hundred twenty-four (124) semester credit hours from accredited colleges or universities.
Completion of 24 credit hours in the General Education Curriculum.
Students will have the opportunity to complete 20 credit hours a semester. With each course being 4 credit hours.
If a player commits to an academic focus, they receive a permanent +2 to any rolls that involve that focus.
When taking a class, players receive a temporary +1 to rolls that deal with the subject matter of the class.
Leveling Up in the World of Vala
There are several different ways to level up within the World of Vala.
Maintaining a Good GPA. The most prominent way to level up is through your time attending your school. Due to Academia making up a big component of the World of Vala system, players will level up as it corresponds with their grades within their chosen academic institute. Players are guaranteed a level up with a Semester grade point average (GPA) of 3.1-4.0.
Mission-Based Experience. Players may also level up by taking missions for their vocation. Each tier of mission allots a diffrent number of experience points. To receive a level-up, a player needs to reach 50 Experience Points.
Tier 1 Missions - Allot 1 Experience Point
Tier 2 Missions - Allot 5 Experience Points
Tier 3 Missions - Allot 15 Experience Points
Tier 4 Missions - Allot 25 Experience Points
Tier 5 Missions - Allot 50 Experience Points
Leveling Up Reminder: As you level up, you roll hit-die that permanently increases your HP by the number rolled. The number of hit die you roll grows by 1 for every even level you reach. You start with 1d6 hit die at level 1 and grow to 2d6 at level 2, and then to 3d6 at level 4. This continues in this pattern, you grow in level in the World of Vala.
Academic Grading
In the World of Vala, attending classes is easy. Players can select their courses as they attend their school and earn Magicrafting Components, Spells, Unique Traits, and even Magical Items. While signed up for each class, players will roll a monthly d100 on the Grading Table to determine their performance. If they receive an A for the month, they will roll on the Grade Reward Table to receive a relevant award. If players spent 75% of the maximum time available for a class, they receive a +20 to their d100 roll. At the end of the semester, players can average the score over the 5 months in order to determine their final grade for their semester GPA. If players pass the class with an A they may roll on the Grade Reward Table.
Grading Table:
d100: 100-81: Receive an A in the Class for that Month.
